Papalooza

Calling all women:

This week street nurses are doing our annual Papalooza event. This is your chance to get your Pap done. We will also do other testing for STI's or HIV if you want them done.
The Pap is the test we do for early changes of the cells on the cervix. If left alone those changes might become cervical cancer. This kind of cancer is easily found and easily treated if we see changes early on.
We also have some flowers, chocolates and a few other goodies as a gift when you get your Pap done.
You can find us at the following places in Vancouver this week:

Tuesday:

Bed bugs

I have been seeing more bedbug bites than ever these day. Was just reading an interesting (long) report on bedbugs from Vandu and the City of Vancouver. They started a pilot program where they washed laundry, replaced some beds and sprayed the rooms at 2 hotels: the Regal and the Walton.
Were any of you in the Regal or Walton hotels when they were treated? Have the bedbugs stayed away?

Street Nurses STI blog

Have not really done a blog before and not sure how exciting a blog on STI's will be but here goes. One of the most common things I hear people say is that they don't get tested because they don't notice any symptoms. Actually it is more common to have no symptoms than it is to notice any symptoms at all when it comes to STI's. Most STI's are really easy to test for and also to treat.
