Well enabled by grief
2008.02.20 - 06:27 PMI'm grieved because a former friend with an addiction who wanted to turn his life around 3 yrs. ago died last month. And when death hits home & is premature, and/or may have been prevented, it gives one pause to reflect on the extenuating circumstances.
What springs to mind is why transitional housing for men who struggle with addictions do not offer alternatives to AA 12 step, not only because of clients who've tried this method and failed to abstain, but also for those who cannot relate to AA 12 step at all.
One size doesn't fit all.

Dreadful Lifeism Disease
2008.01.31 - 06:36 PMLifeism is a dangerous, progressive, incurable and ultimately fatal disease that manifests itself in the uncontrolable urge to throw oneself into its path.
Lifeism generally begins in childhood (or later if you had a shitty one) with the simple urge to follow the path of least resistence.
Then Lifeism progresses to deliberately taking risks, maybe even arrogantly insisting that everyone has the biological necessity to eat and sleep in safety every day and night without police harassment or any harassment at all for that matter.

Misplaced Morality & Chemical Genocide
2008.01.18 - 03:11 PMImmoral drug laws that criminalize human nature for a well known desire to avoid pain and seek pleasure, while said laws prevent users and addicts from obtaining the drugs of their choice, are no more than an inhumane scheme that destroys lives for the sake of economic profit.
