Victoria Public Library NO LOITERING???

David and friends have been harrassed by security guards and were arrested 3 times with no charges being laid... yet...
David and Friend have been challenging the Victoria Public Library's NO LOITERING signs in the courtyard that is directly outside the main entrance to this public institution.

loitering update- June 13th, 2007

hey... alrighty, the scoop the news... k whatever-
Sarah and I had a delightful time with a new sign. The sign was finished at about 3 (a beautiful thing, best sign yet- it said in large letters-
'Loitering' implies purposelessness
the signs are insane
enforcing them is criminal
not leaving 'til they come down
bordering the top it said- pride is sin because fate is real
bordering the bottom it said- the power of patience is with you)
anyhoo- cops came at about 5. Arrested us for Assault by Trespass. Got to the station- they tried to get us to sign a Promise to Appear for August 8th, we refused and came to court in the morning. They did not take our picture or prints. We talked to duty council and he said that there was no such thing as Assault by Trespass and he would see what he could do. Sarah and I waited all day in cells to eventually sign an undertaking to return tomorrow (Thursday the 14th) at 9:00 AM to make our plea (not-guilty) and then set a date for trial. Apparently 3 of the top crown people confered all morning to figure out what to do with us. We are being charged with 'fail to leave/stop activity on or in premises, contrary to section 4(3) Trespass Act' for June 12th AND for the first time we protested on April 12th (I guess that may be their 'out' for not taking our picture and prints this time).
I guess I'll write another update tomorrow to say the trial date.
