The Ballad of Dogwood Avenue. & Window reflection
The Ballad of Dogwood Avenue. 04-2003
At a party at the trailer, on Dogwood Avenue,
one night of celebrations (without even incantations)
"Butter me up" Al, and "Drag me down" Fred,
try to convince "Big" John he's not a pacifist anymore!
"Little" Ken Hamilton lends a willing walking boot,
provokes intense reaction, then tries to shy away.
Fred 'high in his cups' shows John how to handle it,
throws beer into his face, the fight is on with Ken!
This ballad keeps on ticking, around and round it comes,
it's Texada party times, we boys are having fun.
I am bewildered by this lesson, but enjoy these good old times,
there are no better friends than these, to share a night in town!
We are one, and one the same.
We are heroes in our minds.
The legends of our hearts,
so small when we're alive,
so big after we die.
So big inside our minds,
the legends
after we die.

Window Reflection. October-2002
Mirrored window unto night
reveals
a lone
guitar Guy.
Playing Blues
and Rhythm,
and Rhythm
and Blues.
Rhythm and Blues!
Behind him
country kitchen
perfect picture,
hanging plants.
Everywhere
green life, thriving.
On battlefield wooden table
chess pieces
droop in defeat.
Outnumbered white king
bravely fought,
to its death.
Life's so sweet
like garden bloom air,
morning mists,
twilight colors,
first time kiss.
So sweet,
it hurts
not to breathe.
It hurts so sweet;
not to breathe.
Wednesday night chess.
