Skylight, AC, trendy neighbourhood ...

One of my sketches is called "Skylight, AC, Trendy Neighbourhood" showing a man sleeping on cardboard against a city building.

We have some beautiful, cobblestoned walkways in Toronto but what shocked me when I first moved here from Ottawa was the people sleeping on the hard, hot sidewalks or brutal, wintery curbs. In Ottawa, the homeless stand or walk or sometimes sit in a shady doorway, but you NEVER see people lying unconscious at the side of the street. Maybe the politicians don't like to see the needy "lazing around" and sleeping so close to Parliament Hill.

Here in TO though, it's disturbing that people walk past the street people who are passed out on the blistering hot asphalt without any expression on their robotic faces. I would at LEAST expect a little compassion shown in their eyes.
