It sucks being me?

I want to thank Homeless Nation for inspiring me to create again. I lost all my creativity when I became ill and have only begun to dabble in my art a bit, once more. I find my photos of the homeless make for some very intense images to work from. My shrink, Larry, has been trying to get me back to painting for two years! But it's difficult when you can only afford one brush per month and then one colour of paint the next month. And I hate painting on writing paper. So ... it sucks being an artist with no art supplies. Oh, well ...

Hi, Katgrrl you intrigue me very much, dont worry about the painting thing too much. there are lots of different kinds of art. you could buy some cheap colored chalk and draw on the street corners painting all sorts of happy and cool pictures of things that people in the big city dont get to see very often. draw some butterflies or pirate ships. or borrow a video camera and make a film about all the terribleness in the big crazy metropolis. you can film the gritty truth of it all. the ceremonial show and parade of poverty that has become the norm of canadian cities. then you can put it on you tube, or homeless nation for the whole world to see. the process might be cathartic and release your depression. mason.

hi katgrrl,

just wanted to welcome you to the site and thank you for your contributions. it is people like you that make the site what it is, a community. i don't know much about the resources in toronto, but in vancouver there are art resources where there is access to materials, galleries and space. i am hoping that toronto has something similar to help you out with the supplies you are looking for. maybe someone on the site knows of some programs in your area. keep creating and keep posting i look forward to your future submissions.
