I stay in as usual on cold days. My bones just can't take the weather. However, yesterday I went to pick up my meds, and was truly astonished. Have things ever gotten worse. I counted 43 drug dealers, 17 people sleeping in doorways, and at least 10 people pushing their belongins along in a shopping cart. All within a two block area on Hastings Street. Of course there are linups waiting to buy drugs to escape their lives. If they had decent shelter, food, clothing, a phone, non Hastings Street mailing address. A daunting task for anyone, let alone start from
nothing. No wonder they feel hopeless, and lost.
