    JUSTICE HAS FLED THE EARTH

In this narrative passage of Shakespeare's great tragedy - Titus Andronicus, the great fallen soldier Titus is speaking to this brother Marcus. Herein, Titus has gathered a group of some 8 archers, to shoot letters of solicitation. Titus, with the aid of his band are pleading to the Gods and the heavens, to send down Justice, who has - considering the tragedies of the time (the rape and terrible ravishment of his daughter, the death of his sons, the election of a tyrant emperor, a war on his nation, the disablement of the senate), seems to have fled the Earth... Has justice fled the Earth again? Are the crimes of neo-liberalism and conservatism too much to bear for Justice herself? (homelessness, hopelessness, decline in global social capital, cracking the gains of the progressive cause)

    Bourgousie to the Rescue?

Some activists seem to think that ‘if only’ the bourgeoisie (the upper classes) knew that their life styles and actions cause so much pain and pestilence on the streets and throughout the developing nations of the world, that they would reform their ways, and join the progressive cause. Has there been a real historical precident to this? As if someone who makes 90k per year or more is going to somehow look at the plight of the poor, and suddenly sensing this great and overwhelming feeling of class solidarity they choose to re-evaluate their life priorities, over some whim or sudden growth of heart. It’s nothing more than a fable and the idea deserves some dissection. Frankly, the notion of the benevolent rich person, who ‘comes to his senses’ is nothing but the misguided and naïve hopefulness of someone without a real sense of class justice.
