My letter to NIABY

I gave these assholes a piece of my mind.
im sure that much wont come of it, but hey, all you can do in life is try.

I think what you are doing is completely appalling. I’m really not sure what kind of a platform it is you think that you have.
I am a 22 y/o new mother, who used to be street person. I have had my demons, and I overcame them with help.
The fact that your organization thinks that social housing is a bad idea is completely outrageous. People need a chance in order to change their lives. A chance at a normal life begins with stable housing.
I don’t know how many of you have ever lived a day on the street. I don’t know how many of you have had to battle with an addiction, while living on the street. I also don’t know how many of you understand just what it is to be completely street entrenched.
I do know all of these things. I also know what it is like to be given the chance to turn things around and to become stable.
The problem is organizations like yours want to push the 'lower class' away from what you think are your neighborhoods, without actually doing anything to solve the growing epidemic. You live by the whole 'out of sight out of mind' theory when actually things couldn’t be further from the truth.
I don’t know where you get your ideas, beliefs or whatever it is you choose to call them.
What you must understand, is that the poor, hungry and addicted aren’t going anywhere without help.
Sweeping these people under the carpet will not change anything.
I was given a chance and now I raise my beautiful 7 month old daughter at home with my husband. Probably much like all of you. The difference is I know what it is like to struggle and overcome, whereas you judge peoples struggles and toss them aside.
If the day comes where you ever find yourself upon hard times, I wish nothing but the eye opening truth for you. Then maybe the world would be a better place.
