skate boarding ruined my body

FUCK. That is how I start today's blog entry. That's it just a simple f-u-c-k -- FUCK! Okay now that that is out of the way, I can really get started on saying what I want to say. On Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. I went out skating with my neighbor Allen. We got about a five minute warm up and I went for a backside 5-0, nothing special, I've landed that trick a million fucking times. So, I start the grind and I lean a little bit too far back. I then try to regain my balance by throwing my weight more over the trucks and this caused my balance to go way off and the back truck I was grinding on unlocked itself and I began the descent. I saw the ground rushing up at me and decided that either I take the corner of this ledge.......angle iron and all........ straight to the face or I put my hand down and stop it maybe I'll scrape my palm or something. So I stub my finger straight on and I look down to survey the damage. What i saw was probably the worst thing to ever see when you are skate boarding. My right ring finger was broken and over at a ninety degree angle BEHIND my pinkie finger. I turned my hand to look at the damage from my palmside and my bone the first section of my finger was fully exposed so I grabbed my finger and set it straight. Now, I have to wait until my finger is well advanced in the healing stages before I can go to work or hit up a bowl. Shityy though because I was starting to get back into being really comfortable on ym board and now I need some more rehabilitation. FUCK!

I always found one of the better skateboard implements was one of those wrist guards (I know, hindsight is 20-20). But seriously, you almost always break your fall with your hands, and they are handy that way. And they don't change how you ride, unlike a helmet or knee pads. Anyway, as you age, you will start to consider these implements....heal well.
