from what i saw at first you guys had alot of trouble getting squirrelmail to intergrate into the site.
i myself don't use it.
i can't really say how many people do, but i imagine we all have our own personal email addresses which we would rather use.

My email is constantly getting junkmail from stock traders and jewelry peddlars. There doesn't seem to be a way of blocking them.
On the other hand I receive emails from people on the site or visitors to the site and that is a good way to keep connected.
It would be nice if everyone on the site could be in our contacts, or everyone we've added as a buddy. I'd like to be able to email all the Toronto users to inform them of meetings/events, etc...

Does your email have a "group" function?
If so, you copy all the email addys there with a title, say "HN" and hit the button and voila! goes to all on the list...
Try logging into your email account here and say how it works. Everyone logged into this site has an email address for example mine is kolin@homelessnation.org
yours is metisrebel@homelessnation.org

If our email interface was a bit better, I'd really launch a campaign to convince people to switch away from the big companies and use our email.
In the next version of this site, the email will probably be in a seperate interface, so that the bug of "timing out" doesn't happen. Its the only drawback right now.
I don't use the system here.I have an account I've had since about 98 that I am still using. So spammed or not, it means everyone knows how to find me.
My other email can hook up to this but I don't use the feature since I'd likely be commiting spamicide.
