Possible Solution to Homelessness in Kenora, Ontario

Kenora is in a crisis situation regarding homelessness. It has been an ongoing problem as far back as anyone can remember. There have been short term solutions that haven't worked for one reason or another. The two main buildings that housed low income people are no longer standing. One hotel was torn down to rebuild a condominium on that cite and the other downtown block burned down this year. This has left a number of people without housing. I personally feel it is a blessing in disguise because it has forced the community to recognize a crisis situation and the need for immediate action. The local Fellowship Center has stepped in as short term aid and funds have been awarded to assist with the cost of food and lodging. We are a community in transition as our paper mill closed down this year as well. It was the main source of income for many. A plan of action is in the works as we speak, but I am interested in compiling ideas that perhaps haven't been addressed at the public forums and workshops. There will be another public forum on Wednesday evening to update the community on what the status is regarding a solution. Once a feasible plan is in place, there will be many areas in which people can assist but currently it is still in the planning stages. Any suggestions?
