I thought a long time about trying to apply the homesteaders act to squatting but then I discovered that all the laws from the homesteaders act have been quashed.

I went to London, and I squatted there... The thing is that the laws there are different than here. In England, squatting is legal, in Canada it is NOT. If you do put places where abandonned buildings are available, you are saying to the cops: "Here I am, come and get me!". Believe me, the cops are looking at this website.

So please do not start writing where our squats are, I am sure people would appreciate to keep their privacy and not get evicted. I agree that we should fight to change the laws but do not put the places on the internet, it will be a total disaster for squatters!

Unbeknownst to the general public there were 4 major squats like spokes on a wheel around Tent City Toronto. When we were tossed [too LOUD and PROUD] they weren't even noticed.

Some squats are loud and proud to make a point or to change the law. TCT was impossible to keep quiet by sheer size alone. The smaller squats were quiet so the people there could just get on with staying alive.

Both are necessary and we can't "out" the ones who desperately need to stay warm and dry.

Squatting is not legal in Canada, all legal acts related to homesteading and crown land for the poor were crushed before 1950. So without overturning camping bans, creating "use it or lose it" laws, squatting laws or other viable alternatives through legal channels--as far as having rights--we don't have any, legally.

This fight is legal/political. There's simply no question that's the route it has to go.

This is something the government doesn't want to do because at the core they are corrupt.
It would cost them nothing to ADD "Poverty & Homelessness" to the Human Rights Act...BUT the corrupt wouldn't be able to take advantage of those unable to defend themselves so easily.
It would cost them nothing to allow people to care for themselves instead of ordering them into THEIR institutions that cost millions for inadiquite space...BUT then they wouldn't have us all in one place were they can keep an eye on us.
It would cost them nothing to remove cannabis from the criminal code...but then they would have to let SOOO many people out of jail that think creatively for themselves...Ooh, and we wouldn't NEED a lumber industry, an oil industry, a cotton industry, a pharmasudical industry. Not to mention how much money they make by having POT as a member of their enemies in the 'drug war'.
Of course, just because Jesus told us to live as the birds in the trees and the lillies in the field...doesn't mean he meant it. What He really meant was for us to become a slimey, selfish, comsuming virus that should destroy everything it touches, and declare war on terrorists...cause GEORGE W.B. told it to me.

Since the dawn of peoplekind, there have been lairds and peasants.

WE are peasants.

The difference has always been the SAME one.

Lairds have control of the *land*. Whether they parcel it out under their rule [social housing/rental/mortgage] is all the same. They use their gombeen men to enforce the rule of land.

"Freedom" is but the cry of, "I want some land so I can control what happens on it and therefore, my destiny."

The sooner we stop arguing amongst ourselves over housing, social services and other diversionary claptrap the sooner we will see the real fight before us.

Gentrification is about land control, building standards are about land control, lack of employment is about wage and therefore land control.

It's the same 1000's of years of bullshit packed in a bag so we will accept the stench.

EXACTA-mundo...hitting the nail on the head, except I would say that it hasn't existed since the dawn of time, only for approximately the last 10 thuosand years...Since CAIN...for hundreds of millions of years before that we lived as ABEL...but this test of time that carry's us into the 'END of DAYS' is really just another evolutionary step. I think here is where I'd like to define "religions"; as that which was created by the guys who didn't understand what the spiritual dudes were talking about...otherwise there'd just be a bunch of spiritual dudes walking around.
However, with that said, I think this to be one of the most important stories in the BIBLE and the one that relates to humanity the most, as this is where we are to have received the 'Mark of CAIN'. To get to the end of any cirle, you must first go the beginning and step out, or rise above it...which is why I say; "If we CAIN stop killing, we'll never be ABEL to survive what's coming."
Strangely enough, I had this wierd moment when I was before GOD that, with the name "Daniel" hidden within me, I was made to stand and receive the inheritance of the EARTH as it was written and now come to pass. Here are some interesting phrases within my name I found later that relate:

So from now on, when they try telling you are on private property, you can tell them; "No I'm not...Ancient owns ALL this land and HE said we may stay wherever we NEED to...and that you'd better learn how to share or you will be removed from the face of the EARTH forever and thrown into the 'Lake of Fire'...not a threat, a warning"
Ask them to PROVE on paper that GOD sold/gave them this land they lay claim to, and PROVE they haven't stolen it from GOD & His people...because I CAN...but this is something THEY already know and don't want YOU to know or talk about.
GOD gave it to me to hold onto till Jesus comes back cause I've learned how to SHARE it...and EVEN in their corrupt courts I can prove it. Maybe that's why they keep trying to kill me...and why they keep failing. They don't understand how it relates to the Parable Christ told of the 'VINEYARD OWNER' and fullfilling ANCIENT prophecy. The REAL LESSON for them behind this of course, is that ONLY GOD OWNS the land. Walk softly and BALANCED upon it my brothers and sisters...only take what you NEED...teach others to do the same...instead of weakening each other with fighting...strengthen each other with love.
I understand very well that it's easier said than done.

After watching CBC this moring I became interested in our sqatting rights here in Canada and sure enough we have none. My Stephan Dion is trying to improve his image as caring leader of the Liberal party and as a prospect leader of our country. I wrote him suggesting that he puts this into his platform if he really wants to prove himself so caring and with a new election brewing he nedds all the help he can get. Bartman

I had seena programme on the tele about the water squatters up the west coast!!I thought it was brilliant in fact after I am finished typing this I am going to find more on line about it!This morning I came across this site and am thrilled there are other peole here talking about what would seem to me to be fairly reasonable working solutions for homelessness and poverty.
I feel the same regarding these subjects.I came across a town for sale this morning in BC.Cant remember the name off hand but if you type up towns for sale there are 92 houses and a hospital and two apartment buildings and a rec center all for only seven million!Wouldnt it be great if the company which I read was dodge or something to that effect gave it up to homeless peoples?It could go two ways of course but it really is scenic from teh pics and seriously look at what happened with australia!!

here in canada the art of squatting on "privitly owned " land is illegal in Canada simply because the countries goverment "OWNS" the land NO GOD!!! HOW STUPID is the riter who says that god ownes the land is on the verge of insanity and "DO" need to see a shrink because "squatting" is steeling some thing that some one else ownes. "DO" like I did. I went out and got an adress, then I went out and got a job, then I held on to the job so that " I" could "buy" a "home" and never looked at the goverment to provide me with a residence, like my farher, his father, and his father(get the picture) went out and got a home in the most apporiate way. They either earned the right to the land or bought the land.. '"NOTHING WAS GIVEN" and as far as industry goes, be it lumbering, or textile(cotten) or patrolium (oil industry), we need lumber for building houses( or did the person want to livde in "mud huts") and cotten for clothing( or does the same wants to go naked, especialy in the winter) or do we kill off all the animals on the face of this world for skins to ware.
"STOP" smoking grass, pot and like I said, get an adress and then the job and then the home..
