Voting Day in US Election 2008

There is a million and one reasons why people don't get out and vote; and there is a million more reason why everyone should. Right now the US has its up coming presidential elections, which I am sure in the long run it will have some kind of a direct effect on Canada's up coming election. No matter who wins or loses the leadership race, it will have a direct and almost immediate effect on all the working poor and homeless all across Turtle Island. We all will loss everything of value to us. Especially if it could be considered an essential for our very existance.

I have heard a million reason why people don't get out and vote and very few reason why they do. Reasons like I can't be bother because my vote doesn't count any how, I don't have the right identification, I don't now where to cast my ballot, I don't know anything about the leaders, it doesn't effect me, or I don't have the time too.

Here are somethings that our leaders do count on;
1. - Lack of willness for potential voters to go stand in line.
2. - Your ignorance about key issues
3. - Your no vote if you are poor or homeless
4. - Your attitude of "I don't really Care Who wins or Loses"

About 1/3 of the entire population on both sides of the border fall into this category. 1/3 of the population will fall in the group of "I did my civic duty and cast my ballot"
These are the people who might determine who will be the next leader because their votes will count even if they don't know anything about there canadiates or key issues. They might have taken the initives and attended a few of the locally community meetings and picked up some info..

The remaining 1/3 will vote because their source of income is on the line. They usually have a lot of time and dollars invested in the election, and are very active in the political campaign, so that they can continue to live the life style that they have come to relish.

There is a very small group of people who really have an interest in seeing the right leaders get in.
-These are the people who care about the most basic human needs and rights.
-They also now about the struggles that thousands of people face on a daily and yes a hourly bases.
They know the price that to many of us have paid.
-They know the power of each one of these potential leaders and the impact they could have on all of lives.
-They now the value of one vote.

The only thing that they would have to gain or benefit from their caring is that they might just have saved one more person from ending up on the streets, dying a premature death because they cared enough to help you get out and vote. They care.

We don't need to loss any more people to any more wars. Whether it is wars on the poor, homeless or elite.

I don't care who you vote for.
I just get out and excercise your right to vote, before our governments take away this right too.

Information on National Homeless and
Low-Income Voter Registration Week

Since equal access to the right to vote is a crucial part of maintaining a true democracy, nonprofits and service agencies nationwide will dedicate the week towards registering homeless and low-income individuals to vote. For those unable to conduct voter
registration drives, the week can also be used to educate community members on the upcoming general election.

As another organization dedicated to homeless empowerment and economic justice, we hope you will join us in this effort. With your support, we are confident we can reach more individuals not yet
registered to vote.
