This Is The Best Place On Earth - Vancouver 2010 Olympics New Ad
Every year, the Vancouver Tourism Bureau (www.HelloBC.com) puts out a really frustrating series of ads designed to increase tourism in B.C. Like we need it.
If you want to see for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MFjKqy5-Jw
They portray young, healthy, beautiful people with surfboards, eating fine cuisine, getting massages and shopping in really fancy stores.
So, I thought it might be a good idea to portray the "Real B.C.". The other side of the equation. Granted, we have Stanley Park, Whistler, English Bay, Jerico Beach. We also have the Downtown Eastside and a host of poor suburban areas that I can't seem to glimpse in these ridicules ads. To paraphrase Mahatma Ghandi "A civilization is only as strong as it's weakest link.
BTW - the website therealbc.com doesn't exist. It is just there to rebuke hellobc.com.

Funny. (or actually - sad but true.)
nice to see you on the site chantal.
Its the best place on earth for those that live in fantasy land. Which is 90% of the population of Vancouver. Although I must give the landscape of BC some props, it is beautiful. Too bad our stupid human politics get in the way of true beauty now isnt it?
better to die on your feet then live on your knees
Put it on the public broadcast man! Seeing this on TV would be fantastic.

in victoria. it was a farce.
all hail gordon campbell, and bless the mayor of victoria, dean fortin and his city councillors, who persist in denying the right to sleep after 7 am and before 7pm...
