Homelessness in San Fransisco
San Fransisco Guardian reporter Amanda Witherell and intern Bryan Cohen did an undercover investigation of their city's shelter system by using it for 5 days.
At the link below you can read Amanda's and Bryan's diaries, about their struggles to get a bed, and how the shelter systems and policies equate to a lack of common courtesy, respect and dignity. Oh, and also a lack of beds.
There is also a link to some stories of the homeless folks they met.
And finally a link to a piece about a press conference the Mayor and Homeless Policy Director of San Fransisco held about the homelessness in their city announcing - well - the article is aptly entited "Mayor Announces Nothing".
