In order to change the picture that appears next to your name, you must first have a new picture ready - and remember - this picture must be less than 200Kb (small!). You must also be logged-in.
Note: You might want to open a new browsing window so that you can refer back to this help page.
Step 1: Erase your old picture. To do this:
Click on "my page" on the navigation bar near the top of the page. Once you're at your profile page, click on the "Edit Profile" button. When you are at the page where you can edit your information, scroll down and check the "delete picture" selection. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Submit".
Step 2:You must then delete the browsing history from your internet browser.
For Firefox (recommended browser), go to the menu at the top of the page, click on "Firefox", and then click on "Preferences".
Click on the "Privacy Icon" and then click on "Clear Now..." Make sure that "Cache" is checked, and then click on "Clear Private Data Now".
For Safari, go to the top of the page, click on "History", and then click on "Clear History".
Once this is complete, you can upload your new picture.
Step 3: Uploading a new picture.
Return to your profile page and again click on "Edit Profile". Scroll down to the picture section and click on "Browse...", or "Choose File"
Find your new picture on your computer and click "Open" or "OK".
Scroll down to the bottom of the Edit Profile page and click "Submit".
Your new picture should now be uploaded!

Step 1:
Near the top right of the screen, click on Create New Account.
Step 2:
Fill in all of the information fields. For your username and password, try to use something that will be easy for you to remember.
Step 3:
Choose a security question and give the response. This is necessary in the event that you forget your password.
Step 4:
Answer the "Captcha" question (identify a set of letters and numbers). This question is for testing whether you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions.
Step 5:
Click on "Create new account". You will automatically be logged into your new account and returned to the Homeless Nation startpage. All features of the site will now be open to you, including: Posting videos, writing blogs, announcing events, and much, much more.
If you want to make changes to your profile (upload a picture, write a description about yourself, etc...), click on "my page" which can be found along the top navigation bar.

Creating an e-mail account is easy!
First, make sure that you're a registered member of Homeless Nation.
Second, post a request for an e-mail account in the comments section below (just scroll down).
Third, sit back and relax while the hard working staff at HN creates your account.
(Unfortunately, e-mail accounts cannot be created instantaneously - you'll have to wait anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days before you can start sending and receiving messages. When your e-mail account is ready, you'll receive a private message to your profile page with all of your e-mail account information. Sorry for any inconvenience.)

Before reporting a missing person, you must first be logged onto the Homeless Nation website. If you haven't yet created an account you can register here.
Step 1:
On the right side of the screen, under the heading "Contribute", click on Report missing person.
Step 2:
Fill in all of the information fields (i.e. height, weight, age) as accurately as possible. If there are details that you feel unsure about, you can either take your best guess or leave that field blank. If you have a picture of the individual, you can upload it. Under "Picture", click "Browse" (to find the image on your computer) and once you have selected the file you want, click "Upload".
Step 3:
Before submitting the request, you will have to answer a captcha question (copying a set of letters and numbers). This question is for testing whether you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions.
Once you have filled out the form as accurately as possible, click on the "Submit" button.
***Note***
After submission, the missing person report will temporarily be held in a moderation queue. This means that the report will not be immediately posted on Homeless Nation. Again, the moderation queue is designed to help protect the website from automated spam and to ensure that the missing person section is being used responsibly.
If you want to send another user a private message, you can do so.
Before sending a message, you must first be logged onto the Homeless Nation website. If you haven't yet created an account you can register here.
Step 1:
Go to the profile page of the user who you'd like to send a message to. You can do this by clicking on their name or on their thumbnail image.
Step 2:
Once you're on their profile page, click on "Send [username] a message".
Step 3:
You will now be on a page called, "Write a new message". Enter in a subject and write your message into the large text box.
Step 4:
Once you are satisfied with your message, click on "Send private message" near the bottom of the page. Your "Private messages" history page will then appear with the information: "Message sent".
**Note**
Some users will have disallowed private messages. If you get an error message informing you of this, you can always try to contact them by writing on their wall.
Writing a blog is easy!
Before creating your blog, you must first be logged onto the Homeless Nation website. If you haven't yet created an account you can register here.

Step 1:
Under Contribute (on the right side of any main page), click on: Write on your blog.
Step 2:
Now you will be on a page called, "Submit blog entry". This is where you will write your blog. Remember, it is important that you fill out each field or your blog may not appear correctly.
Step 3:
In the text box under "Body" you can now write your blog.
Step 4:
Look over all the required fields and your blog. If you think that everything is filled out correctly and you are also satisfied with what you have written, you can click on "Submit". A new page will now appear with the message "Your Blog entry has been created".

Some helpful tips
Every registered user on Homeless Nation has a "wall". A wall is a space on a user's profile page where anyone can write a message. The message is a public one - meaning that anyone can read it.
Step 1:
Go to the profile page of the user on who's wall you'd like to write. You can do this by clicking on their name or on their thumbnail image.
Step 2:
Once you're on their profile page, click in the text box under the title: "Wall". You can now write your message.
Step 3:
Once you are satisfied with your message, click on "Post", located underneath the text box.
Your "wallpost" will now appear on the user's profile page.
